Some pieces of Irish blackthorn have stories that are easy to imagine, and this is certainly one of them.

Crafted from a single piece of genuine Irish blackthorn, this shillelagh carries all the character that only nature can create. The bark bears old scars from years of growth, while just below the head is a natural wound that had already begun to heal. What caused it? Perhaps another branch, a harsh winter, or simply the struggle of growing in the Irish hedgerows. Whatever happened, the tree continued to grow, leaving behind a permanent reminder of its journey.

During the drying process, a deep natural crack formed through the head. Rather than disguising it, I chose to celebrate it by filling the entire crack with a vibrant green glow-in-the-dark resin.

When exposed to daylight or a torch, the resin charges before glowing with an intense emerald light that gradually fades through the evening. Running deep into the wood before appearing to burst from the surface, it creates the illusion of a living green core hidden within the blackthorn itself—as though the stick is holding onto a little piece of Irish magic.

Measuring 38 inches in length, this is a solid, substantial one-piece Irish blackthorn shillelagh, handcrafted to preserve every knot, scar and natural feature that makes it unique.
